We purchased new furniture for our living room, dining room and also plan to add some pieces for our office and entry - we will probably purchase them from Whitley. Laura was our designer and sales associate, and she was excellent. Great ideas, contributor of practical/useful information, and a great eye for color and space coordination. After visiting several furniture stores in Durham and Carey, my son and I were disappointed in the quality and selection of sleeper sofa styles and boring fabrics. A helpful shopper in one of the stores sensed our frustration and suggested we visit Whitley Furniture Galleries. WHAT A FABULOUS EXPERIENCE! The showroom and array of quality home furnishings was spectacular, and Christina and Nell were excellent in helping us focus on selecting style and fabric. In addition to purchasing a sleeper sofa, we fell in love with a colorful plaid recliner that was priced just right! If you are interested in high quality, broad selection, and working with talented, tasteful designers, this is the place to shop! I'd give it 10 stars if I could!!
This is a really nice store and big. It is beautifully arranged into rooms throughout the store. I didn't mind just receiving a map of the store and just being allowed to browse. Most sofas are over a $1,000 but they seem to be of higher quality than other furniture stores I have been to. My only complaint is that the few times I have visited I haven't seen many sofas that fit the farmhouse style that is so popular right now.
My wife and I recently purchased a sofa and chair from Laura at Whitley Galleries. She was the consummate professional throughout the entire process. She was so patient and helpful in answering our questions. My wife and I had very different ideas about what we thought we wanted. Laura listened to us and helped us find a look and style that suited us both. When the furniture was delivered, it was perfect! We both love each piece! The order arrived sooner than expected and delivery was quick and very professional. The delivery manger, Wilson was so polite and accommodated our work schedule to minimize our time off. The delivery men took the 96"sofa up to the second floor, around a corner, and through two interior doors without a scratch or ding! The great thing was that we got the furniture, but didn't have to deal with all the packing materials and maneuvering the pieces into place ourselves. My family has been Whitley Galleries shoppers for over 45 years. They are known for quality, service, and fair pricing. If you want furniture that will last your lifetime, this is the place to go. It was also an added bonus to know that our furniture was made in North Carolina.
My husband and I worked with Susan B on two major purchases -- dining/kitchen tables and chairs and a sectional sofa. She was patience personified as we went through the decision process for both purchases. Susan really provided great guidance on choosing colors and styles that would work best for us. She was clear in explaining store policies and great at communicating updates on delivery. We were referred to Whitley by a friend who also had a good experience.
